Yesterday, we attended the unveiling of the revived Ford Capri, which has shed its classic coupé design in favour of the currently popular sporty crossover format. This marks the second electric vehicle from the Blue Oval to use the Volkswagen Group’s modular MEB platform, also seen in the Explorer.
Although official pricing was revealed just a few hours ago, the online configurator for the model has given us a clear picture of the final prices, which include significant discounts, some exceeding €6,000. Consequently, half of the range qualifies for the Plan MOVES III incentives, which have a cap of €54,450.
The newly launched Capri offers two trim levels (Capri and Premium) and two mechanical variants (Extended Range RWD and Extended Range AWD), which can be combined interchangeably. The Extended Range RWD model features a rear-wheel-drive motor with 286 HP (210 kW) and a 77 kWh battery, while the Extended Range AWD boasts all-wheel drive with 340 HP (250 kW) and a 79 kWh battery.
The RWD version accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 6.4 seconds and has a WLTP range of 627 km. The AWD version reduces the time to 5.3 seconds with a WLTP range of around 592 km. Both models have a top speed limited to 180 km/h and support fast charging with peaks of 135 and 185 kW in DC (10-80% charge in 28 and 26 minutes, respectively).
In Spain, the Ford Capri starts at €48,094 before incentives. Later, the line-up will be expanded with a Standard Range RWD variant, featuring a 170 HP (125 kW) motor and a 52 kWh battery pack, offering over 400 km WLTP. While the first Capri deliveries are expected at the end of the year, the entry-level model’s release date remains unclear.
The Extended Range RWD benefits from a promotional discount of €6,171, bringing its starting price down to €48,094, which rises to €51,114 for the Premium trim. For the Extended Range AWD, the discount is €3,872, setting the Capri trim at €57,383 and the Premium at €60,403. As seen, only the rear-wheel-drive models are eligible for state subsidies of up to €7,000. With these incentives, the starting price of the Capri drops to €41,094 (€44,114 for the Premium).
